What I tell buyers and investors about Old East Village is to look closely at each building. Older homes with units can be good, but the details matter, and as a landlord myself I know what to ask.
Figures are live asking prices of homes for sale through my feed, not sale prices.

Dundas Street runs through the middle, with shops and restaurants, and the side streets have Victorian brick homes and doubles. Downtown is just west. The housing mix makes it popular with first-time buyers and people who want a home with a rental unit.
If you are buying a home with a second unit, check that it is legal and safe. My landlords and investors page explains how I approach it. Selling? Start with a home evaluation.
Look closely at each building. Older homes can be full of character, and the condition varies a lot from one house to the next. A good inspection is a must. If you would rather have a condo close to the core, see condos for sale in London. The London guide has more neighbourhoods to compare, and Old North is another older area worth a look.
East of downtown London, around Dundas Street.
It has older homes and doubles that can suit investors. Check each unit carefully. See landlords and investors.
Victorian brick homes, doubles and older houses, some converted to more than one unit.
Yes, Downtown London is just to the west.
